Yohimbine, Pausinystalia johimbe

Introduction:

Pausinystalia johimbe is a plant which contains yohimbine, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI).  Yohimbine has been used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) and orgasmic dysfunction in men as well as poor libido in women. It is widely distributed over-the-counter as an herbal supplement with Pausinystalia johimbe containing yohimbine which is also available in its pure form as a prescription.

 

Yohimbine and blood pressure

High blood pressure may occur if yohimbine (Pausinystalia johimbe) is combined with tricyclic antidepressants (1).
